NEW YORK and WASHINGTON, April 10, 2017—BNY Mellon, ranked the eighth largest U.S. wealth manager by Barron’s, has held grand openings for two new offices as part of its continuing growth strategy.

On April 6, the firm held a ribbon cutting and open house of its new office in Tysons Corner, Virginia, hosted by Washington Regional President Susan Traver.

The following evening it formally open its doors at a new address in York, Pennsylvania, where it has had a presence for decades.

Both locations are part of BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s important Mid-Atlantic division headed by Regional President Lee Woolley.

Tysons Corner, Virginia

The wealth manager’s move into offices in Tysons Tower marks its debut in the fast-growing Virginia wealth market and reflects the firm’s long-term global growth strategy.

Five wealth professionals are based in the Tysons office, but the firm plans to expand its staff and ramp up considerably over the coming year or so, Traver said, adding that BNY Mellon is the first global wealth firm to open its doors in Tysons Tower.  “We consider this move a great fit for our business,” Traver said. “Tysons is one of the top business locations in the country and is rapidly evolving into a cultural and social hub for Northern Virginia.”

BNY Mellon Wealth Management CEO Don Heberle and Head of Private Banking Bill Sappington attended the Tysons opening along with several prominent Northern Virginia business figures including Jim Corcoran, Molly Egloff and Darlene Evans of the NoVa Chamber of Commerce.

York, Pennsylvania

“We’re delighted to be raising our profile further with this new location. BNY Mellon Wealth Management’s roots in the York community go back to the 1970s when it was the First National Bank of York,” said David Sivel, senior director for Central Pennsylvania and Baltimore. “In the years since then, it has steadily grown its presence in the region by serving high net worth investors and working with legal and financial professionals who advise them.”

Leaders from the local York Economic Alliance and other officials joined Sivel and his team, as well as Lee Woolley, President of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic region for the ribbon cutting.
